A balance board is the ideal and safe way for a student to get used to vestibular input. They have to shift their body weight and respond appropriately to the changing stimuli. Not only can balance boards improve balance and coordination but also proprioception (which is the awareness of the position and movement of the body).
Using the balance board can help build strength, particularly for the core muscles. With practice students can use the balance board while reading a book or answering maths questions, as the shifting of weight enhances reading comprehension and fluency, as well as improves concentration by using those bridges between the frontal brain and the cerebellum.
A fun addition to a flexible classroom, can be used alone or at a standing desk.
